My Cavies

The American Cavy is a smooth haired cavy.  Major emphasis for showing is on its Type and Color.

My Red American Cavies have been bred for many years.  Bred the Dark Eared as well as the Light Eared Reds but for the last 5 years only the Light Eared Reds I am working with at the moment.  Since they made dark ears a fault in the standard I felt that there is no reason for me to breed the Dark Eared Reds.

My Red Dutch Americans have been bred from Dutch English sows  received from Berma Crowl and from Red and white Broken colors bred to my Self Reds, than bred for Dutch Markings.  Later received Red Dutch English stock from Tracy Iverson of Oregon  and a nice typy Dutch sow from the late Terri Leach of Arizona, they were also bred into my Red Dutch Line.  Getting a decent showable Dutch is about 1 out of 20.  Keepers, 1 out of 10.

My American Golden Agouties, made room for the American Martens and am not breeding them at the moment.

My American Red Dalmation program I discontinued after 12 years of effort. Could not get good Self Red spotting.  Good Chocolate Agoutie spotting but our ARBA standard calls for Self Spots only.

My American Tans, Have them in all 5 colors of Beige, Black, Blue (Slate), Chocolate and Lilac.  Started with them from two Black Tans purchased from Tracy Iverson of Oregon in 2001,  bred to my Reds and Golden Agouties with clear bellies.  I am pleased with the results and pleased with the variety as a group.

My American Martens came as a result of the American Tan Breedings.  These American Martens where bred to American Martens from Jo Anne Richardson, Jim Touchette, Travis Finkle, Marie Lou Eisel.  Currently in 2009 will be presenting them for the first time as the third COD (Certificate of Development) holder at ARBA Convention in Del Mar California.  Previous presentors where Juliet Barrara  and Travis Finkle.
